About Us

History

Glen Albyn distillery was founded in 1846 by James Sutherland, provost of Inverness.

Glen Albyn quickly became the largest distillery in the Highlands producing 75,000 gallons of Scotch whisky a year.

Owing to the economic downturn in Scotland in the early 1980s the distillery was closed in 1983 by the global giant owner Guiness (now called Diageo).

In December 2022 Glen Albyn was reformed sourcing water from the same location by Scotland's most famous natural  structure - Loch Ness.

Production

Glen Albyn single malt scotch whisky captures the elemental wildness and unadulterated beauty of its birthplace to give you a taste of the Highlands. All ingredients are sourced locally and most importantly our water sourced from the Loch Ness valley providing an unrivalled purity. Glen Albyn is 100% produced, bottled and labelled in Scotland.
